Aaron Nesmith, Vanderbilt
Speaking of shooters, Nesmith might be the purest shooter in this draft. Despite playing only 14 games due to a stress fracture in his right foot, he shot a scorching 52.2% from deep on 8.2 attempts–take with that what you will. He averaged 23.0 points as a sophomore at Vanderbilt and his play in those 14 games had him as a surefire lottery pick. Even with the injury, Rookie Wire still has him going before the Sixers select at 22.
The Sixers can either wait to see if he does slide to them at 22 or they can be proactive and move up for him. Philadelphia needs shooters in the worst way and it is throwing a wrench into the Simmons-Embiid duo as some believe that they can’t co-exist when in reality, they lost the shooters that helped them succeed. Nesmith is a guy who can fill that remedy, but general manager Elton Brand and company will have to do their due diligence on him considering his injury.
