3 observations: Joel Embiid, Sixers hold off Rockets to end losing skid

Joel Embiid had a big night to lead the Philadelphia 76ers past the Houston Rockets at home.

The Philadelphia 76ers received some good news and some bad news pregame on Wednesday. The good news was that Joel Embiid was set to return to the lineup after missing Monday’s game to end the road trip. The bad news was that they would be missing Ben Simmons due to an illness.

It turns out they were up to the task of playing without Simmons as they were able to knock off the Houston Rockets at home 118-113 to end a 3-game losing skid. Joel Embiid led Philadelphia with 31 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists and he made some big plays down the stretch to hold off a Rockets rally. They once led the game by as many as 29, but Houston did put on a furious rally.

Seth Curry added 25 points and five assists, Tobias Harris had 24 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists, Danny Green finished with 12, and Tyrese Maxey chipped in with 10 off the bench.

With that said, here are the three observations in this one:
