3 observations: Ben Simmons, Sixers shut down Luka Doncic, Mavericks

Ben Simmons led the Philadelphia 76ers past Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks at home on Thursday.

The Philadelphia 76ers were able to pick up a big win on Tuesday over the Toronto Raptors and they were looking to continue their momentum against Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday. They did so in a big way as they were able to shut Doncic down in a 111-97 win at home.

Ben Simmons was a big reason for that as he was smothering on defense all night and he finished with 15 points and seven assists. Joel Embiid led the way with 23 points and nine rebounds, but the All-Star starter struggled to shoot the ball again as he shot just 5-for-20 from the floor.

Seth Curry played well and he added 15 points on 3-for-3 shooting from deep and Dwight Howard added 14 and eight rebounds off the bench.
