3 Michigan football too-early position battles to watch

With spring ball around the corner, here are the three most important position battles to watch for Michigan football.

Now that the Super Bowl is officially over, there is no more football to be played nor for the fans to watch stemming from the 2020 season — college or pro. That said, it’s time to turn our full attention over to either 2022 recruiting cycle or spring ball.

The Wolverines capped their 2020 season with a poor 2-4 record, but they did end up with the 10th-best 2021 recruiting class according to 247Sports Composite rankings — which could bode well for early contributors this upcoming season.

Jim Harbaugh’s contract got extended this offseason, and he completely re-tooled his shed of coaches for the upcoming season. We won’t know how it pans out on the field until September, but it’s been refreshing to see the impact the young coaches have made in the recruiting trail. The maize and blue already made a couple big splashes in the 2022 class, landing a couple of 4-stars from SEC country out of Tennessee.
