1. Find a ground game
This is arguably the healthiest the Oklahoma Sooners have been along the offensive line in 2024. Branson Hickman is off the injury report as is Troy Everett. Preseason projected starting right tackle Jake Taylor is listed as probable, so it’s looking like the Sooners will have everyone back except Geirean Hatchett, who is out for the season.
That doesn’t guarantee Oklahoma can get improved offensive line play because these guys haven’t played together, but it gives them a better chance.
The Sooners have had issues running the football, especially as they struggle in the run-pass option game. But Oklahoma is looking to simplify the offense so the quarterback doesn’t have to make as many reads and decisions in the option game.
If the Sooners can get something going on the ground, even to average just 3.5 yards per carry, that will go a long way to helping the Sooners offense find success.
