2020 NFL Draft
That could mean selecting a guy come the NFL draft in two weeks.
If the Cowboys are interested in making major waves, Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts is certainly a name that comes to mind. With a scouting report in the vein of Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson, Hurts comes with even bigger college pedigree having starred at both Alabama and for the Sooners.
Outside of Hurts, though, other possibilities exist. Georgia’s Jake Fromm could tumble into their laps on Day 3. Anthony Gordon (Washington State) and James Morgan (FIU) have interesting upside as Round 5 or Round 6 candidates.
Priority free agent possibility include names such as Michigan State’s Brian Lewerke and Virginia’s Bryce Perkins.
Whether any of those prospects would be ready to be a primary backup in 2020 would be a stretch though, which would mean Dallas’ recourse would be the veteran market.
There’s only one issue, there isn’t much out there, at least not in the Cowboys price range.[lawrence-newsletter]
