[lawrence-newsletter]This morning, 247Sports National College Football Analyst Brad Crawford released his list of the “most important non-conference games” in college football this season, and Wisconsin was involved.
To nobody’s surprise, Wisconsin’s Week 5 clash with Notre Dame at Lambeau Field made the list. Here is what Crawford had to say about the Badgers and the Fighting Irish.
“Three spotlight games will define Notre Dame’s season in 2020 and two have made this list (including this one). The Irish’s Week 5 showdown vs. Wisconsin at Lambeau Field will pit nationally-ranked teams on the not-so-frozen tundra with possible widespread implications for the victor. Ian Book’s return at quarterback means Notre Dame will have stability on offense and be on the national title shortlist along with final four mainstays Ohio State and Clemson. Glancing at the early-season slate, the Irish should be unbeaten heading into this one while the Badgers must get through Indiana, Appalachian State and Michigan to do the same prior to this meeting.”
Just yesterday, USA TODAY Sports listed Wisconsin football as having one of the most “interesting” non-conference slates in the country. Now, the Badgers are seen as having one of the most important games of the entire non-conference slate. The venue of Lameau Field, the home of the Green Bay Packers, only makes things better as two powerhouse programs match up in Week 5.
