247Sports ranks Aggies WR Evan Stewart as a Top 100 player ahead of the 2023 season

Entering his pivotal sophomore campaign, Texas A&M WR Evan Stewart has been included in 247Sports’ “top 100 players for 2023.”

It’s been a weird offseason for Texas A&M star wide receiver Evan Stewart, who is entering his pivotal sophomore season with the program after leading the Aggies in receiving yards (649) during the disappointing 5-7 2022 campaign.

Coming into College Station as one of the highest-ranked recruits in Texas A&M history as a member of the historic 2022 recruiting class, Stewart’s blend of speed, quickness, exceptional route running, and incredibly soft hands at the catch point has bolted his current ceiling as a future first-round NFL draft pick, especially after adding new offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino into the mix for the 2023 season and (potentially) beyond.

After receiving little love from multiple outlets‘ wide receiver rankings this summer, 247Sports writer Blake Brockermeyer released his top 100 players rankings ahead of the 2023 season; Stewart, coming in as the only ranked Aggie, was placed at No. 35, and the fifth-ranked wide receiver. Here’s what Brockermeyer had to say on Stewart’s inclusion:

“After an impressive freshman campaign, the former top-10 recruit looks to put it all together in 2023. Exceptional athlete with a ridiculous ceiling.”

Apparent to most, Texas A&M’s starting wide receiver rotation is borderline elite, as Evan Stewart, Ainias Smith, Moose Muhammad III, and Spring MVP Noah Thomas still have much to prove on the field from the point of consistency. Still, one thing is clear: Whether it’s Conner Weigman or Max Johnson throwing the ball to this exceptional group, Evan Stewart’s ability to stretch the field will open up the offense and let the likes of Smith, Muhammad, and Thomas wreck opposing defenses week to week.
