LSU football finished out the 2020 season with an underwhelming 5-5 overall record after recording an undefeated season capped off with a national championship victory just one year before.
It’s safe to say the Tigers are ready to put all of that behind them now, and moving forward will start with the team’s Week 1 road matchup against the UCLA Bruins on Sept. 4.
There seems to be a lot of confidence that the Tigers will come out on top, but UCLA won’t be a cupcake opponent that LSU can use to ease into the season.
The competition will be real, and it will serve as the first test to just how much the Tigers have grown since last year.

The writers over at 247Sports made their predictions recently, with Sonny Ship predicting the game to be close at halftime with the Tigers pulling out the 34-20 win in the final two quarters.
Shea Dixon has the Tigers recording a 33-24 victory, while Billy Embody predicts LSU will win, 38-31.
Regardless of where you stand with these exact predictions, this should definitely be expected to be one that has the potential to come down to the wire.
Here’s a look at our prediction from earlier this offseason for the LSU-UCLA game:

Final score: 30, 21 LSU
“It’s never easy to open the season on the road and Chip Kelly had the Bruins playing very solid football last year. UCLA also returns several talented players from the previous year.
This game should mark the beginning of LSU showing how much it’s grown over the offseason, but it won’t be easily won.”
