The first two seasons under coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] have been inarguable successes for LSU.
The Tigers won 10 games in both campaigns, including an SEC West title in 2022. But they haven’t managed to get over the hump and into national contention, and LSU enters 2024 seeking its first College Football Playoff bid under Kelly.
The Tigers are a preseason top-15 team and have the chance to compete for a spot in the expanded 12-team field, but 247Sports analyst Brad Crawford predicts a similar finish to the last two seasons, slotting them in at 9-3 in his preseason record projections for the SEC teams.
My final record predictions for every SEC team this season …
Georgia 11-1
Texas 10-2
Ole Miss 10-2
Alabama 10-2
LSU 9-3
Tennessee 9-3
Missouri 9-3
Texas A&M 8-4
Auburn 8-4
Oklahoma 7-5
Florida 7-5
Kentucky 7-5
South Carolina 6-6
Arkansas 4-8
Miss. St. 4-8
Vanderbilt 3-9STORY… pic.twitter.com/lE8AXuwJ6V

While a 9-3 season could theoretically secure a playoff berth given the increased difficulty of an SEC schedule, it certainly wouldn’t be a given. The Tigers will hope to get back to the 10-win mark this fall, hopefully in the regular season, this time.
