Amid Texas A&M’s 2024 season, the first for head coach Mike Elko, the quarterback position has become a talking point after redshirt sophomore signal caller Conner Weigman’s shoulder injury led to backup quarterback Marcel Reed taking over for the last two weeks.
Since then, Reed, through some growing pains, has looked the part of the once-heralded recruit who possesses the speed and athleticism to make plays out of structure. Developing in front of our eyes, the future at quarterback is very bright, especially with 2025 5-star Husan Longstreet entering the program next summer.
Looking ahead to the 2027 cycle, Rivals recruiting insider Marshall Levenson has reported that the No. 1-ranked quarterback prospect, 5-star Elijah Haven, out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, will visit Texas A&M sometime this year after visiting LSU last weekend.
Haven’s arm talent and elite touch make up his 5-star ranking, while his athleticism at 6-4 is highly impressive. During his 2023 freshman season, Alston threw for 2,205 yards and 35 touchdowns while rushing for 641 and 12 touchdowns.
According to 247Sports, Alston is currently positioned as the class’s No.1 prospect and quarterback and the No. 1-ranked prospect in Louisiana.
2027 5-star QB Elijah Haven visited LSU this past weekend and will visit Alabama this upcoming weekend.
The No. 2 overall prospect tells @Rivals he has also added visits to Texas A&M and Michigan this fall.
