Boom! Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting class has added its second player in the past two weeks. Three-star cornerback Ryan Gilbert joins three-star safety Markel Ford, and Mike Elko’s dedication to building the Aggies’ future is continuing to pay off.
Since taking over the program back in November, Elko’s impressive performance on the recruting trail has led to 18 commitments in the 2025 cycle, while he and his staff have hosted a long list of 2026 prospects, knowing that securing as many future prospects as possible before next summer’s primary focus is vital to staying the race for top talent.
While the 2025 class includes several cornerback commits, passing on Ryan Gilbert’s high-end athleticism and impressive ball skills in press coverage would have been a huge mistake, as the incoming Forney HS junior plays well above his 5’10”, 170-pound frame.
During his 2023 sophomore season as a varsity starter, Gilbert recorded 11 tackles, two interceptions, two tackles for loss, and a sack.
