Report: Saints’ interim coach already has his next job lined up

Darren Rizzi is going to wait and see how the Saints head coach search plays out, but he may already have his next job lined up. You’ll never guess where:

Here’s the big tell everyone was waiting for. Darren Rizzi appears to have his next job lined up after working as the New Orleans Saints interim head coach this season — NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Rizzi “is likely to become the new Broncos special teams coordinator.” Rizzi was brought to the Saints by Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton when he was running the operation in New Orleans, so it makes sense he would partner up again with Rizzi when given the chance.

Of course it isn’t as simple as Rizzi swapping his Saints hat for a Broncos cap and getting on a flight to Denver this Monday morning. NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill clarifies that “Denver has not yet requested to interview him” and that while Rizzi would be the favorite for this job, he’s going to wait until the Saints officially name their next head coach before moving on.

And that candidate is expected to be Kellen Moore. Saints general manager Mickey Loomis told other candidates for the job on Friday that he was focused on continuing negotiations with the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator, and that he wouldn’t make a final decision on the job until after Super Bowl LIX. That’s when NFL rules allow Moore to next speak with the Saints and accept the job. The Broncos are going to at least consider their options for a special teams coordinator, but the expectation should be that Rizzi will end up on staff with Payton once again.

Free Agency: Targets Cowboys could reunite with their new OC to strengthen offense

Free agency follows the hiring of coaches and Dallas’ newest assistant could bring any number of offensive linemen with him.

One of the oldest tenets of the NFL, at least since the early 1990s, is that new coaches like to steal from their old teams when they relocate. One needs to look no further than Dan Quinn pilfering Tyler Biadasz, Dorance Armstrong, Dante Fowler and Noah Igbinoghene from the Dallas Cowboys once he became Washington’s head coach.

With Brian Schottenheimer moving up from offensive coordinator to head coach from within the organization, there isn’t any opportunity there, but his new offensive coordinator could assist in that regard. Klayton Adams has been named the Cowboys’ newest assistant, and he spent the last two seasons as the Arizona Cardinals offensive line coach under Jonathan Gannon.

With that, the gaze immediately turns to the Cardinals list of 2025 free agents, and it just so happens that several of their offensive linemen are free agents. Three of those are of particular interest to Dallas.

First and foremost is Kelvin Beachum. The 13-year veteran is still going strong at 36-years old, grading at a 75.4 (out of 100) in pass protection according to Pro Football Focus. In fact, Beachum has graded out green or better (green and blue are the positive ranges) every season since his rookie campaign in 2012.

With Dallas having to give serious consideration to replacing Terence Steele this offseason, Beachum may be the perfect bridge player. In fact, two of his three highest-graded games were as the starter at left tackle. At minimum, Beachum should be an immediate addition as the club’s swing tackle, and then Dallas can consider things from there.

Also to be considered is Evan Brown. The 29-year old was the Cardinals starter at left guard, playing over 97% of the team’s offensive snaps in 2024.

Brown graded out as a 73.5 in pass protection, allowing two sacks on the year. Brown is a journeyman, former UDFA who began seeing consistent starter minutes in 2021 with Detroit, while also playing in Seattle before joining Arizona in 2023. This was his first full season playing left guard, lining up at center in 2021 and 2023, and right guard in 2022.

That brings up Will Hernandez. Hernandez was always associated with Dallas during the 2018 draft, as a UTEP product who was caught working out with several of the team’s linemen throughout the process.

Hernandez played in just five games this season before suffering a severe knee injury. The team never detailed what kind, but it’s believed to have been an MCL, not an ACL. If so, his recovery for 2025 could be to the point he could pass a physical in March.

Henderson was a second-round pick of the New York Giants, No. 34 overall, who has had an up-and-down career. 2024 was the best ball of his career prior to the injury, and he has spent the last four seasons at right guard after his first three at left guard.

The Cowboys could be in the market for a right guard with Zack Martin headed to free agency and also contemplating retirement.

The Cardinals options don’t end with Hernandez, as the player who replaced him in the starting lineup — Trystan Colon —is also set to hit free agency.

With four options, all with starting history, it would probably be more of a shock if one or more didn’t end up in Dallas to join Adams.

Coach Raul Arvizu confident in the future of Mexican talent in UFC: ‘There’s an expansion coming’

After losing several UFC champions, Entram Gym head coach Raul Arvizu sees Mexican MMA picking back up in 2025.

Mexican MMA, specifically in the UFC, has taken a hit.

Recently, Mexico had two undisputed UFC champions in [autotag]Brandon Moreno[/autotag] and [autotag]Alexa Grasso[/autotag], an interim UFC champion in [autotag]Yair Rodriguez[/autotag] and a title challenger in [autotag]Irene Aldana[/autotag], who was slated to fight women’s MMA great Amanda Nunes.

Fast-forward to 2025 and all that is gone. There are no Mexican UFC champions or current contenders scheduled to fight for a belt.

Yet, despite the somewhat demoralizing outlook, veteran coach [autotag]Raul Arvizu[/autotag] is confident big things are coming for his country. Arvizu, head coach of Entram Gym in Tijuana and the original coach of Moreno, has seen this story before.

“The sport never grows at a 45-degree angle,” Arvizu told Hablemos MMA in Spanish. “It always goes up, there’s a lot of excitement, and it blows up, and then it comes down a bit. It goes up, and then comes down a bit.

“So I think these last two years, there was a period where the sport had a bit of a fall. But from my experience, from what I can sense, we’re going to enter a two (or) three year period of growth in the sport of MMA.”

Although Moreno, Grasso, Aldana and Rodriguez still remain high in the rankings in their respective divisions, and could very well find themselves challenging for UFC titles in the future, Arvizu sees other Mexican names coming into the picture soon.

“What happened with Brandon and Alexa, that was a project from the UFC,” Arvizu said. “Brandon was in the developmental program, in ‘TUF,’ so the new generations are coming. What we saw was fruits of what was planted 10 years ago, and the UFC is just a couple of years into reinvesting into Mexico again. So I think new talent is coming, and in three or four years, we’ll see more names in the top 15.”

[lawrence-related id=660183]

Mexico may not be at the very top of the UFC at this moment, with no standing champions, but that doesn’t mean that nothing is brewing. Arvizu sees a lot of investment in the country and expects it to flourish soon enough.

“There’s more (Mexican) fighters in the UFC than ever before, there’s the (UFC) developmental program (in Mexico), there are events in Mexico, UFC Fight Pass is supporting several Mexican promotions – so all that will reap a reward,” Arvizu said. “I think those investments started eight months (to) a year ago, and as you know when things are first starting, there are mistakes and there’s a learning curve. … I think there’s an expansion coming.”

Vikings assistant interviews for OC job with the Texans and Jaguars

Vikings assistant quarterbacks coach Grant Udinski received two more offensive coordinator interviews this week, giving him five total.

It continues to be a busy offseason for Minnesota Vikings assistant quarterbacks coach Grant Udinski. Over the past few days, he received two more offensive coordinator interviews with the AFC South.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Houston Texans completed an interview with Udinski on Thursday. The Texans fired Bobby Slowik on Jan. 24 after he had served as offensive coordinator the past two seasons.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero announced on Friday that the Jacksonville Jaguars will interview Udkinski. If hired, he would serve under first-year head coach Liam Coen, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator in 2024.

That makes five offensive coordinator interviews this coaching cycle for the 28-year-old Udinski. He has quickly ascended Kevin O’Connell’s staff since being hired in 2022 and has drawn the eye of teams around the league.

If Udinski doesn’t get hired this year, he will again be a hot candidate for a coordinator job in 2026, especially if J.J. McCarthy has a good first season as QB1. It can be painful as a fan to see coaches leave, but it helps O’Connell’s reputation if his coaching tree can be built.

Chargers’ studs and duds from the 2024 season

The Chargers made the playoffs in the first season under Jim Harbaugh, which should set the stage for bigger expectations moving forward.

All things considered, it was a successful 2024 season for the Chargers. Jim Harbaugh’s first year with the squad went even better than expected, and the future is bright with this squad.

This team could be a few moves away from being legitimate contenders in 2025. Before we look ahead to the offseason more though, it’s time to look back at the studs and duds from this season.

Stud: DT Poona Ford

What a breakout season for the 29-year-old. The defense took a big step forward in 2024, and Ford’s addition was instrumental. In the regular season, the veteran racked up three sacks, eight tackles for loss, nine quarterback hits, his first career interception, and five pass deflections. Entering this season, he had four career pass deflections in six NFL seasons and he surpassed that number in 2024 alone. Ford was dominant in stopping the run and he’s a guy that the Chargers must re-sign this offseason.

Dud: Joey Bosa

Simply put, it was a disappointing season for the four-time Pro Bowler. Bosa recorded just 5.5 sacks in 14 games, the worst number in a season in which he’s played at least six games. He missed just three games this year, but it was clear that he wasn’t the same throughout the season. As a result, Bosa is a legitimate cap casualty candidate this offseason as the Chargers can save a lot of money by moving on from him.

Stud: WR Ladd McConkey

What a rookie season for the Georgia product. McConkey was even better than advertised and was able to eclipse the 100-yard mark an impressive four times. The playmaker finished with 82 catches, 1,149 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns on the year. McConkey established himself as the team’s best wideout and should have a bright future in Los Angeles

Dud: Asante Samuel Jr.

Injuries got the best of Samuel in 2024, which limited him to just four games. He was quite durable in his first three NFL seasons in which he played in 47 games. Even when he was healthy, Samuel wasn’t the same playmaker that we have become accustomed to. Now, his future in Los Angeles is up in the air as he’s scheduled to hit free agency. Not only may Samuel be a bit too pricey, but the Chargers have a few young corners that stepped up and played well this season.

Stud: OT Joe Alt

Why not highlight another rookie? The class looks to be a stellar one after one season, and these two have a lot to do with that. Alt was superb in his first NFL season, which helped the Chargers form one of the best offensive tackle duos in football. For all of the criticism on the team not taking a wideout with the fifth overall pick, Alt proved to be well worth it. Along with Rashawn Slater, this team is built to protect quarterback Justin Herbert for a long time and Alt is a big reason for that. The Notre Dame product was particularly exceptional in pass protection, which will be crucial to keeping Herbert healthy in the future.

Phoenix Mercury acquire Satou Sabally in stunning 3-team trade with Fever and Wings

The 3rd blockbuster WNBA trade in January.

The Phoenix Mercury are holding no punches. Just days after acquiring Alyssa Thomas and Ty Harris via trade, they’ve picked up Satou Sabally.

Per ESPN‘s Kendra Andrews and Alexa Philippou, Phoenix intends to add Sabally from the Dallas Wings via a three-team trade.

Yep. Another WNBA blockbuster trade.

Earlier this month, the free agent confirmed to the media that her days with the Wings were over. “I already communicated with Dallas about how grateful I am…” she told reporters at the time. Since Dallas applied the core tag to her, the veteran forward could only be moved via trade.

Here’s how the three-team trade happened to get Sabally to Phoenix.

  • Mercury: Satou Sabally, Wings center Kalani Brown and guard Sevgi Uzun
  • Wings: Ty Harris (from Phoenix), forward NaLyssa Smith (from Indy), the rights to forward Mikiah Herbert Harrigan and the No. 8 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft (from Indy)
  • Fever: Guard Sophie Cunningham and the No. 19 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft

Cowboys hire offensive coordinator whose strength is OL, run-game philosophies

The Cowboys have hired Klayton Adams as their newest offensive coordinator, here’s what he brings from Arizona. | From @ArmyChiefW3

It may have been touch and go for a bit, but Dallas officially hired the last of the big three coordinators for new Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimers’ staff. On Friday, a week after Schotty’s hire was announced, the team agreed to terms with Klayton Adams as the team’s offensive coordinator.

Adams had been the offensive line coach in Arizona for the past two seasons under head coach Jonathan Gannon.

This will be the first time Adams will hold the offensive coordinator position in the NFL which began in 2019 as an assistant offensive line coach under then-Colts head coach Frank Reich.

The Cowboys new OC spent time with defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus in Indianapolis, working together for three seasons before both moved on from the Colts after 2021.

Adams is renowned for his run-play designs, which helped Arizona go from a middling rushing team to a top-ten unit. The Cardinals ranked seventh in rushing yards per game this season and eighth in rushing touchdowns. Arizona averaged 5.3 yards per carry as a team which ranked second in the NFL just behind Baltimore who averaged 5.8 yards an attempt.

Dallas has publicly stated that they want someone who is outstanding in the running game and Adams’ credentials certainly qualify him for the position. While Adams will carry the title of OC, it is widely expected that Schottenheimer will call plays on offense, much like the hierarchy when Mike McCarthy was the head coach for the Cowboys.

The spotlight in Dallas has been known to be more exaggerated than most other NFL cities but Adams may have a leg up on other first-time Cowboys coaches. He graduated from Boise State in 2005 with a degree in communications with an emphasis on journalism.

Adams began his coaching career as a student assistant in 2005 with Boise State. He went on to coach at West Washington University in 2007 as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator.

He spent two seasons as an offensive assistant at Sacramento State and another two seasons with San Jose State before heading to Colorado in 2013 to coach the running backs and tight ends.

He became the Buffaloe’s offensive line coach in 2016 and was promoted to co-offensive coordinator in 2018 before joining the Colts for the 2019 season.

Report: Jaguars request to interview Bills’ assistant OL coach

According to ESPN, the Jaguars have requested to interview the Buffalo Bills’ assistant offensive line coach. Here’s what you need to know.

As head coach Liam Coen continues to build out his coaching staff, the Jacksonville Jaguars have requested to interview Austin Gund from the Buffalo Bills for their offensive line coach opening, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

This interview request comes on the heels of the Bucs denying the Jaguar’s request to interview offensive line coach Kevin Carberry and assistant offensive line coach Brian Picucci.

Gund has been the Bills’ assistant offensive line coach for the last two seasons. Before that, he was an offensive quality control coach in Buffalo during the 2022 season and a graduate assistant at Wake Forest the two years prior.

This past season, the Bills’ offensive line allowed the third-lowest pressure rate in football, according to Pro Football Reference, and ranked fourth in ESPN’s pass-block win rate metric. In the run game, Buffalo finished 11th, averaging 4.5 yards per carry.

Coen was to the point in his introductory press conference, saying that the offensive line play had to improve.

“I think we would all agree that it needs to improve,” said Coen of the offensive line.

Of course, we all know the importance of giving the quarterback time in the pocket. But while priority No. 1 for Coen is to help get Trevor Lawrence back on track, a key element in accomplishing that is having a strong run game to lean on–just as the Bucs’ offense did under Coen in 2024.

“I think that when you look at, first and foremost, the offensive side of the ball, you want that unit and that group–it’s the first thing that when you break the huddle the defense sees,” added Coen. “I want that to mean something. We want that to mean something and it will.

“That’s a mentality, that’s personnel, that’s scheme, that’s technique, that’s fundamentals, and that’s attitude. That’s something that we need to make sure we instill.”

How Much Nicotine Is in a Geek Bar Pulse?

Modern disposable vapes are often quite high in nicotine, and the world-famous Geek Bar Pulse is no exception. Containing 16 ml of vape juice with a nicotine strength of 50 mg/ml, the Geek Bar Pulse has 800 mg of nicotine in all. In theory, that’s …

Modern disposable vapes are often quite high in nicotine, and the world-famous Geek Bar Pulse is no exception. Containing 16 ml of vape juice with a nicotine strength of 50 mg/ml, the Geek Bar Pulse has 800 mg of nicotine in all. In theory, that’s as much nicotine as many packs of cigarettes – perhaps even many cartons.

In practice, though, a Geek Bar Pulse isn’t actually likely to last the several weeks that multiple cartons of cigarettes would last. It’s important to set your expectations correctly when you use a Geek Bar, both because it’s an essential aspect of planning your vaping budget and because you wouldn’t want to overconsume nicotine and possibly end up spending even more than you would have spent on cigarettes.

So, when we say that a Geek Bar Pulse has 800 mg of nicotine, what does that actually mean, and how many cigarettes does one Geek Bar Pulse equal? In this guide, we’ll explore the answers to those questions.

How Much Nicotine Is in a Geek Bar Pulse Compared to Cigarettes?

You now know that a Geek Bar Pulse contains 800 mg of nicotine in all, but it’s not easy to pinpoint what that actually means as a former smoker. When you smoke, you track your nicotine consumption in terms of the number of cigarettes you smoke per day and not in a certain number of milligrams. Is it possible to calculate how many cigarettes are in a Geek Bar Pulse? You can – and we’ll explain how it’s done.

According to a study published in the journal Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics in 1984, you absorb about 1.04 mg of nicotine into your bloodstream in the process of smoking a cigarette. So, that’s our target – for every 1.04 mg of nicotine that you absorb, that’s the equivalent of smoking a cigarette.

To learn more, though, we need to go a bit deeper. When you vape, how much of the nicotine reaches your bloodstream? We can find the answer in a 2022 study published in the journal Tobacco Control. According to that study, about 68 percent of the nicotine that you inhale by vaping reaches your blood.

Therefore, of the 800 mg of nicotine in a Geek Bar Pulse, roughly 544 mg will reach your bloodstream. If our target is 1.04 mg per cigarette, that’s approximately 523 cigarettes or more than two and a half cartons. Not bad, right?

How Long Does a Geek Bar Pulse Last?

As much nicotine as a Geek Bar Pulse contains, you’re probably not going to find that a device is exactly the equivalent of two and a half cartons of cigarettes. It’s completely realistic to expect a Geek Bar Pulse to last at least a week – perhaps even longer than that – but it’s important to remember that comparing vapes directly to cigarettes isn’t an exact science. You can use published studies to get in the ballpark as we’ve done above, but tobacco smoke and nicotine vapor definitely aren’t the same thing. If you need to use your vape a little more often than you would have smoked a cigarette, that’s perfectly normal and not something to worry about. Tobacco products are tuned for maximum nicotine delivery in a way that vapes aren’t.

How to Make a Geek Bar Pulse Last Longer

Maybe you’re reading this article because you’ve used a few Geek Bar Pulse devices and found that they actually didn’t seem to last very long at all. If you find that a device only lasts you a few days on average before you need to replace it, it’s possible that you’re overdoing things a bit. Follow these three tips to make a Geek Bar Pulse last as long as it can.

  • Use Pulse Mode only when you need a little extra oomph. When you use Pulse Mode, the Geek Bar Pulse consumes e-liquid twice as quickly as it does in the regular single-coil mode. In other words, your device will last about half as long as it should.
  • Try to vape with the patterns of a smoker. If you use your Geek Bar Pulse about 20 times per day and puff on it about 10-15 times per session, you’re mimicking the patterns of a pack-a-day smoker and definitely don’t have to be concerned that you’re using too much nicotine.
  • Put your Geek Bar down when your nicotine cravings are satisfied. If your vape is always in your hand, it’s very likely that you’re going to end up using it more than you really need to.

In addition to the above tips, it’s also important to ensure that you only buy authentic hardware. Fake Geek Bars are definitely out there, but you should never get a counterfeit device if you buy your vapes from a vape shop.

How to Know when a Geek Bar Pulse Is Finished

A Geek Bar Pulse is finished when it begins to taste burnt every time you puff on it. When this happens, you know that the wick is completely dry. When your device is nearly out of vape juice, you’ll know well in advance for two reasons.

  • The Geek Bar Pulse has a built-in screen with a meter showing the device’s e-liquid supply. The meter is only an approximation, but when it’s low, you definitely know that it’s nearly time for a new vape.
  • When the Geek Bar Pulse is running low on vape juice, the flavor will become much weaker. The vapor production will also decrease. When the overall experience isn’t as good as it was when the device was new, it’s nearly time for a new vape.

Can You Refill a Geek Bar Pulse?

The Geek Bar Pulse uses a clamshell design, and it’s possible to open the clamshell by squeezing the device with vise grips or needle-nose pliers. So, although you can refill your device in theory, you’ll find in practice that it’s much easier to simply buy a refillable vape if that’s the experience you’re looking for. Enjoy disposable vapes for what they are – extremely convenient but temporary vaping solutions. If you want a vape that lasts longer, any good vape shop will have dozens of refillable options that you can try.
