The PGA Tour is back in the continental U.S. after 2 weeks in Hawaii with the 2025American Express up next on the schedule. This full-field event will be played across 3 courses at PGA West, with the winner being crowned on Sunday afternoon.

Below, we search for the best value prop bets for The American Express from BetMGM Sportsbook’s odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions.

Xander Schauffele was the headliner of this event with Scottie Scheffler out, but he withdrew from the tournament, opening things up for the rest of the field. Justin Thomas and Sungjae Im are now co-favorites at +1200, followed by Sam Burns (+1400) and Patrick Cantlay (+1600).

Each player will tee it up on 3 separate courses during the first 3 rounds before the 54-hole cut. On Sunday, the final round will be played at the Pete Dye Stadium Course, which is a par 72 and plays at 7,210 yards – the longest of the three. La Quinta Country Club and the Nicklaus Tournament Course are the other 2 courses.

The American Express – Top-5 picks

Odds provided by BetMGM Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 7:13 p.m. ET.

Sungjae Im (+250)

Im doesn’t have any top-5 finishes in this event which might concern some bettors, but he’s finished 12th or better 4 times in the last 6 years. He’s a perfect fit for this low-scoring event where birdies come in bunches.

Sam Burns (+300)

Burns has played here 5 times since 2019 and though he has yet to crack the top 5, he’s had two separate sixth-place finishes, so he’s come close. He’s coming off an eighth-place finish in The Sentry 2 weeks ago, too.

The American Express – Top-10 picks

Brian Harman (+375)

Harman came in 21st last week despite fading on Sunday with a final-round 71, but he could build some momentum in California this week at PGA West. He came in eighth in 2021 and third in 2022, notching back-to-back top-10s in this event.

Davis Thompson (+350)

Thompson could be in for a big year after winning his first event last season and though he’s off to a slow start this month, he’s played well at PGA West in the past. Last year, he came in 21st and in his debut in 2023, he finished second.

The American Express – Top-20 picks

Patrick Fishburn (+180)

Fishburn finished in the top 12 in his last 2 events of the FedExCup Fall and followed that up with a sixth-place showing at the Sony Open last week. Fishburn is a player to watch in 2025 and could be poised to secure his first PGA Tour win.

Mackenzie Hughes (+350)

Hughes hasn’t played here since 2020 and he’s missed the cut in his last two starts in this event, but this is more about buying low on a player who missed the cut in his first event of 2025 last week. In the fall, Hughes had finishes of fourth, eighth and fifth, showing great form before the calendar flipped.

Adam Hadwin (+260)

Hadwin has played this tournament 9 times since 2015 and finished top-25 in 7 of those appearances. He also has 5 top-10 finishes in that span, with a pair of second-place finishes.

The American Express – Matchups

Suggested play is golfer in bold.

Si Woo Kim (-120) vs. Cameron Young (-105)

Kim is a former winner here, taking home the title in 2021. Young’s best finish in this event was a 26th in 2023 after finishing 40th the year prior.

The American Express – Top Asian

Sungjae Im (+175)

Tom Kim (+333) and Si Woo Kim (+450) are tough challengers in this market, but Im is a legitimate threat to finish first on Sunday. Take him as the favorite to be the top Asian finisher this week.
