2025 Tennessee baseball preview: Ole Miss transfer Andrew Fischer

Tennessee will open its 2025 baseball season on Feb. 14 versus Hofstra at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Vols will host Hofstra for a three-game nonconference series.

Tennessee will also compete in the 25th annual Astros Foundation College Classic at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas.

Tennessee, Texas A&M, Arizona, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and Rice will make up the field. The Astros Foundation College Classic will be contested Feb. 28-March 2.

The Vols will play Oklahoma State on Feb. 28, while facing Rice on March 1 and Arizona on March 2.

Andrew Fischer enters his first season at Tennessee in 2025. He bats left-handed and throws right-handed.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound infielder and designated hitter transferred from Ole Miss. Fischer appeared in 55 games for the Rebels in 2024, including 55 starts. He started 43 contests at third base and 12 games as a designated hitter, while leading the Rebels in hits, RBIs, triples, home runs and total bases.

Fischer recorded a .285 batting average, .643 slugging percentage, .397 on-base percentage, 20 home runs, 57 RBIs, 47 runs, 59 hits, 10 doubles, two triples, 35 walks, 53 strikeouts and one stolen base (caught stealing twice) in 207 at-bats.

He also totaled four sacrifice flies, grounded out in four double plays and was hit by six pitches.

Tennessee hosted Ole Miss in a three-game series during the 2024 regular season. Fischer recorded four hits, two home runs, two RBIs, three runs and three walks in 10 at-bats against the Vols at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Fischer transferred to Ole Miss from Duke ahead of the 2024 season.

In 2023 at Duke, Fischer appeared in 47 games, including 45 starts. He recorded a .289 batting average, 11 home runs, 33 RBIs, 38 runs, 29 walks and one stolen base as a freshman with the Blue Devils. Fischer became the sixth player in Duke program history to be named to the All-ACC Freshman team.

He is from Wall High School in Wall Township, New Jersey.

Tennessee enters the 2025 campaign after winning the College World Series, SEC Tournament and the SEC regular-season championship in 2024.
