2025 DB target returning to Florida after ‘great’ first visit

After impressing in-state cornerback Chris McCorkle over the weekend, the Florida Gators are planning on hosting him again for the Tennessee game on Saturday.

Saturday marked the first-ever visit to the Swamp for Cardinal Mooney (Sarasota, Florida) cornerback [autotag]Chris McCorkle[/autotag].

Florida impressed McCorkle on the visit, according to Swamp247’s Blake Alderman, who spoke to the junior defensive back in depth.

“My first game was great,” McCorkle said. “As soon as we got there, off the rip the atmosphere was great… They said that wasn’t even close to what you’d see on a bigger game, and that was crazy.”

McCorkle won’t have to wait long to see what a “bigger game” in the Swamp feels like. He’s already set a return date of Saturday when Tennessee comes to town.

“I am going to come back for the Tennessee game definitely,” he said. “I look forward to seeing a better team they play against, and them competing against a bigger school.”Secondary coach Corey Raymond is taking the lead on McCorkle. The two spent some time together after the game, and Raymond went to go see him play earlier last Friday. That relationship is only just starting to blossom, but it’s one of the main reasons Florida is considered the favorite to land McCorkle right now.UF holds 72.7% odds on the On3 recruiting prediction machine, and that number should only increase after a return visit. Florida Atlantic is the next closest program on the list with 3.0% odds to land him.

McCorkle is a three-star recruit, according to On3. The other three major recruiting services (247Sports, ESPN and Rivals) have yet to evaluate him. On3 ranks him the 37th-best cornerback in the class of 2025 and No. 51 among recruits from the state of Florida.
