The Washington Commanders new ownership group gave coach Ron Rivera and his team one full season to show their worth. The results were a record of 4-13 and began a complete teardown of the organization from the front office to the players on the field.

The rebuild began with one man in mind, Adam Peters, the 49ers former assistant general manager. Since taking over as GM, he has brought in an all-star lineup of front office executives along with former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as the team’s new coach. Quinn is the 11th man to lead Washington since Joe Gibbs last won a Super Bowl in 1992.

Washington had the largest amount of cap space going into free agency and Peters used that to sign more than 20 players. But the highlight of their offseason was drafting LSU QB Jayden Daniels 2nd overall in the 2024 NFL Draft to be the future of the franchise. While the Commanders are in just the beginning stages of their overhaul, there is a sense of hope and optimism around the team with Peters running the show in D.C.

Below, we look at the Washington Commanders’ 2024 NFL Super Bowl odds from FanDuel Sportsbook along with projected win total, playoff, conference and division odds as we make our best NFL picks and predictions.

Commanders over/under win total

Odds provided by FanDuel Sportsbook – last updated May 21 at 12:44 a.m. ET; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list.

  • 6.5 wins: (Over: -115 | Under: -105)

According to the Sharp Football Analysis, which based its calculations off the Vegas Forecasted Win Totals, the Commanders are in line for the 13th-most difficult schedule in the NFL. Their implied line is 6.6, which is right in line with the offerings of the books.

Washington won just 4 games in 2023 and their response was to completely overhaul their roster from top to bottom. Some of the notable free agent signings; RB Austin Ekeler, TE Zach Ertz, LB Franke Luvu, LB Bobby Wagner, DE Dorance Armstrong, C Tyler Baidasz, DE Dante Fowler Jr. Their strategy going into free agency was adding a mix of veteran leadership and young talent. You have to think the combination of an improved roster and better coaching staff would be enough to get a few more wins in 2024.

The strength of schedule is pretty much middle of the road, but the NFC East is one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL. They’ve got 6 games against the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, who both made the playoffs, and an improved New York Giants team.

This bet all comes down to whether you believe in Daniels. Does he live up to all the hype of being the No. 2 pick? We’ve seen his impressive highlight reel and he was considered the most NFL-ready QB in the draft having played in college for 5 seasons. The early reports out of minicamps and OTAs have all been glowing about Daniels.

Go OVER 6.5 (-115). It seems reasonable to think they can get there after all the moves made this offseason to improve the product on the field.

Commanders Super Bowl odds

  • +15000 (bet $100 to win $15,000)

As tasty as those odds are, this team is not even close to being a Super Bowl contender. It will be a huge success in Year 1 for Quinn and company for this team to make the playoffs.

AVOID.

Will Commanders make the playoffs?

  • Yes +310 | No -420

As much as I want to believe that Washington made enough of a difference in this roster to make the playoffs in 2024, I think they are at least 2 years from getting there, especially starting a rookie QB.

The NFC is very top heavy with teams like the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, the Cowboys and Green Bay Packers all basically locks to make the playoffs. That leaves just 2 spots for the other 9 teams to fight over. I know there will be some turnover, but I don’t expect a lot of it this season.

You need to give this newly revamped front office and coach staff another full offseason to completely make this roster their own. There are still a lot of big holes to fill, like tackle, running back and cornerback.

AVOID for another season before jumping in on this Commanders squad.

Odds to win NFC East Division

  • Cowboys +120 (bet $100 to win $120)
  • Eagles +120 (bet $100 to win $120)
  • Commanders +1000 (bet $100 to win $1000)
  • Giants +1000 (bet $100 to win $1000)

It would be hard for basically any team to break through and win a division with both the Cowboys and Eagles. Philadelphia represented the NFC in the Super Bowl just 2 years ago and the Cowboys will make the playoffs, but will likely flame out like they always do in the postseason. Those 2 teams will be battling for the NFC East crown in 2024.

If you ask me this same question next season, I’d be more likely to take those odds.

Commanders odds to win NFC

  • +5500 (bet $100 to win $5,500)

The Commanders have not been to the Super Bowl since the 1991-92 season. The only coach to ever take Washington to a Super Bowl is Joe Gibbs and he ain’t coming through those doors for a 3rd time. It is up to Peters, Quinn and their group of talented executives and coaches to bring this organization back to it former glory, but it won’t happen this season.

A lot would have to break right for this team to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl come February. It would take an offensive rookie of the year type performance from Daniels to even have an outside chance of making that happen.

AVOID. I would love to see it happen for Washington and again, ask me these same questions in 2025 after this new organization gets a chance to set its feet.
