2024 UNC target loses playoff game in heartbreaking fashion

One 2024 UNC basketball target loses in heartbreaking fashion in the second round of the state playoffs.

A key UNC basketball target had his postseason run come to an abrupt end last week in heartbreaking fashion.

2024 five-star forward [autotag]Jarin Stevenson[/autotag] and Seaforth (NC) lost by one, 61-60, to East Carteret in the second round of the 2A playoffs.

A few days after posting a triple-double, Stevenson had 21 points in the loss. Two of his 21 came with 6.4 seconds left as he tied the game at 60. Then, a questionable call led to free throws for East Carteret — ultimately producing the win.

Seaforth was the 9-seed heading into the playoffs and ends the season 18-9.

In Stevenson’s recruitment, the main schools involved are North Carolina, NC State, Missouri, Virginia and Wake Forest among others. Stevenson is rated as the No. 10 overall prospect in the class of 2024 247Sports rankings. He is the No. 1 player in North Carolina and the No. 2 power forward nationally.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Travis Branham recently broke down his game.

“He’s long, he’s lean, he can really run and he’s very agile in the lane. He’s going to build his face up game down the road but the times he was active around the rim he was tough to deal with… As he learns to mix unleashing his inner dog with expanding his faceup game, he’s got the tools to be very problematic for opposing defenders.”

UNC holds four commitments in the class of 2024 and has the top-rated class in the country.
