With the first live evaluation period taking place this past weekend, numerous big time players were out in full force.
One of those players who made a name for himself over the weekend was 2024 guard [autotag]Paul McNeil Jr[/autotag]. The 6-foot-6 shooting guard plays for Garner Roads 16U on the AAU circuit and Rockingham (N.C.) Richmond County High and has already taken an unofficial visit to North Carolina.
Playing in the Adidas 3SSB event in Indianapolis, McNeil put on multiple big time performances. 247Sports national writer Eric Bossi gave his thoughts on the rising junior.
For our final game of the weekend, we dropped in on Paul McNeil of Garner Roads 16U team and his play provided a more than fitting sendoff for the weekend. Currently ranked No. 16 overall by 247Sports in the class of 2024, McNeil more than backed up his lofty status. Where to start with what makes him so good? He’s got 6-foot-6 size, he plays with great pace, he is being coached by longtime NBA player David West, he can really pass and most of all he is an elite shooter from deep. Each and every time McNeil pulls up from deep, you get the feeling that the ball is going in.
McNeil isn’t a crazy athlete, but he moves well, has good agility and can play under control and fast at the same time. His maturity on the floor is well beyond his years. NC State head coach Kevin Keatts was locked in until the end and the Pack have offered. McNeil also listed offers from Clemson, Indiana and Tennessee among others and has been on the campuses of Clemson, NC State, North Carolina and Wake Forest.
McNeil had notable scoring outputs of 33 points, 28 points and 21 points throughout the weekend.
The in-state guard is currently ranked No. 16 in the 247Sports class of 2024 rankings and the No. 1 player in North Carolina.
