It was known in advance that 2024 four-star receiver Ryan Pellum would choose between two and only two schools. USC and Oregon were the two finalists in Pellum’s recruitment, much as LSU and Florida are the two finalists in the College World Series.
Only one would win. USC did.
Pellum announced his commitment to USC on Monday afternoon, giving Lincoln Riley another big recruiting victory. The win is obviously valuable in and of itself, but it’s also valuable because it denies Oregon a new piece in its own puzzle. USC’s move to the Big Ten will place more emphasis on winning recruiting battles against the Ohio States and Michigans of the world, but it’s not as though beating out Dan Lanning for quality talent will cease to matter. That will continue to be a real goal for the Trojans, who want to make absolutely sure they are the prime destination among West Coast college football programs.
KABOOOOM!
