On Sunday, 2023 cornerback Kevis Thomas announced that he would be visiting Auburn on June 10. Thomas is currently committed to play for Vanderbilt. It appears that he is keeping the door open for other programs to try and pry him away from heading to Nashville.
Thomas is regarded as a three-star according to 247Sports’ recruiting rankings. He is listed as being 6 feet tall and 179 pounds. The product of Lowndes High School committed to the Commodores on May 1, 2022. It hasn’t changed the fact that he wants to visit other programs.
The Georgia native will visit Auburn on June 10, Maryland on June 17h, and Louisville on June 24. The Auburn coaching staff hasn’t extended an offer to Thomas, but that could change with his visit coming up.
Last season, Thomas played primarily cornerback for the Vikings. He recorded 25 tackles and an interception. The Tigers likely see him playing a role somewhat similar to Zion Puckett. Puckett came to Auburn at 6 feet tall and 200 pounds.
The two have similar frames and that could be something to keep an eye on. Thomas will likely put on some muscle and have the opportunity to play a similar role as Puckett if things don’t pan out with Vanderbilt.
It will be interesting to see if the coaching staff extends him an offer. The secondary will likely lose some key contributors after the 2022 season, so it will be key for the staff to bring in replacements. Thomas appears to be considering a handful of schools and has not closed the door on his recruitment. We will have to wait and see how the Tigers approach his recruitment and if they extend an offer or not.
