2023 Houston Texans Super Bowl odds with conference, division and win total best bets

Analyzing 2023 NFL Super Bowl odds for the Houston Texans, including best bets for win total, conference and division titles.

The Houston Texans have made the NFL playoffs in 6 of the last 12 seasons, but they haven’t been past the regular season in 3 straight years, having had a new head coach in each season.

While the expectations are low in Houston, former franchise great DeMeco Ryans will captain the organization after several years as a highly successful defensive coordinator in San Francisco.

Houston drafted QB CJ Stroud with the No. 2 overall pick of the draft and equipped him with weapons like TE Dalton Schultz and WR Robert Woods. With a 2nd top-3 pick, the Texans drafted DE Will Anderson Jr.

Below, we look at the Houston Texans’ 2023 NFL Super Bowl odds from FanDuel Sportsbook along with projected win total, playoff, conference and division odds as we make our best NFL picks and predictions.

Texans over/under win total

Odds provided by FanDuel Sportsbook – last updated May 14 at 7:10 p.m. ET; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list.

  • 6.5 wins: (Over: +100 | Under: -122)

Given the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans aren’t expected to be strong playoff threats, the Texans have the 6th-easiest strength of schedule per Sharp Football Analysis. The Texans will have to deal with each team in a difficult AFC North though.

There were concerns regarding Stroud’s readiness, and he could take a few months to really get comfortable. Without many key weapons, the Houston offense will struggle, and the defense lost DE Ogbonnia Okoronkwo to Cleveland.

The instant impact Stroud and Anderson will have should help Houston, but it won’t be significantly better than its 3-13-1 finish. Despite an easy schedule, take the UNDER 6.5 (-122).

Texans Super Bowl odds

  • +18000 (bet $100 to win $18,000)

Houston is tied with the longest odds to win it all. The Kansas City Chiefs (+600) are the favorites, followed by the Philadelphia Eagles (+850).

At +18000, Houston has an implied probability of winning the Super Bowl of .55% or 180/1 fractional odds. It is tied with the Cardinals for the longest odds.

Unfortunately, given the youth on the team and the strength of the AFC, it doesn’t make much sense to back the Texans here. PASS.

Will the Texans make the playoffs?

  • Yes +520 | No -800

I would rather play Houston to win the AFC South (+800) than it to make the playoffs (+520). The conference is strong, and the rest of the divisions in the AFC have several contenders.

If the Texans make the playoffs, it is unlikely they top teams like Baltimore, Cleveland and Seattle. However, if the Jags come out flatter than expected, as they are the only real threat in the AFC South, the Texans could sneak in by winning the division outright.

PASS here and potentially sprinkle on the division odds.

Odds to win AFC South Division

  • Jaguars -160 (bet $160 to win $100)
  • Titans +360 (bet $100 to win $360)
  • Colts +550 (bet $100 to win $550)
  • Texans +800 (bet $100 to win $2,400)

Houston’s implied probability of winning the AFC South is 11.11% or 8/1 fractional odds. The Jaguars are really the only frontrunner to win the division, and most teams after should follow suit.

Considering the potential upside for the trio of Houston newcomers (Stroud, Anderson, and Ryans), instant success is unlikely, but their ceiling is higher than that of Tennessee or Indianapolis.

With Jacksonville unplayable given their expensive odds, a sprinkle on TEXANS (+800) is worthy of a small play.

Texans odds to win AFC

  • +8500 (bet $100 to win $8,500)

The Texans aren’t in the most competitive division in the AFC, so there is some chance they get help from their schedule, unlike teams in the North or East playing divisional foes twice in the season.

The unknown regarding the success Stroud, Anderson, and Ryans will have should loom over this team early on. Nonetheless, Houston has too many new faces to consistently put wins together.

The core is there for a successful future though. PASS.
