2023 Hawaii LB Liona Lefau ‘excited’ about his early Wisconsin offer

Wisconsin makes a new 2023 offer to a Hawaii LB

The Badgers continue to hit the recruiting trail hard, and yesterday they sent out an early offer to a 2023 LB out of Hawaii. Liona Lefau, an unranked ‘backer from Laie, Hawaii (Kahuku High School) tweeted out confirmation of his offer yesterday.

The 6-2 LB also holds an early offer from Utah, and has seen a plethora of power five interest.

Earning an offer from a school and football program like the Badgers meant a ton to Lefau at this stage in his process. “I am really excited about this offer,” Lefau told BadgersWire this morning. “Wisconsin is a great school and also is a top football team in the nation, so this one is exciting for me.”

The Hawaii native spoke with Wisconsin DL Coach Inoke Breckterfield on Thursday, who made the Badger offer official. “The conversation with Coach Inoke was him telling me that they wanted to offer me, then telling me information about Wisconsin and how they could help me as a football player and also as a student,” Lefau told BadgersWire. “Coach Inoke knows my dad and my uncle’s from back in the days when he was living in Hawaii so they sent my film and he liked what he saw.”

Lefau prides himself on doing a little bit of everything on the football field. Through his freshman season in high school, he has played safety, WR, and TE according to his Hudl film.

“I’m versatile,” said Lefau when asked about how he would describe himself as a player. “I like to play fast and downhill, and I am not afraid of contact. I would also say I’m a team player, I will do whatever it takes for the team to win.”

The Hawaii LB is certainly a target for Wisconsin fans to pay attention to in the 2023 class.
