On the eve before the Aggies take on the Auburn Tigers in front of a sold-out Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday night, some exciting recruiting news just dropped, as 4-Star defensive lineman Johnny Bowens has announced his commitment date for Thanksgiving Day on Nov. 24th. According to On3 Recruiting, Bowens currently has an 87.3% chance of signing with the Aggies.
Bowens also decided on his Top 3 schools, which include Texas, Oregon, and of course Texas A&M, the first program he committed to before considering other options and de-committing on June 28th. after reopening his recruitment, Bowens visited the Oregon Ducks campus on June 25th and Sept. 30th but has since visited College Station on June 28th, July 30th (recruiting pool party), October 29th, and an official visit last weekend on November 4th.

Standing at 6’2″, 254 pounds, Bowens is as versatile as they come on the defensive line, consistently providing a violent first step combined with impressive hand use and footwork in his pass rush while being a menace in the backfield due to his speed and athleticism.
As a priority target for a Texas A&M coaching staff that needs some sort of good news after the dismal season experienced, a commitment from a player of Johnny Bowen’s talent and demeanor will go a long way in providing some momentum going into national signing day, where hopefully a couple more splash worthy names make the Aggies their future home.
