2022-23 CJ Cup odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions

Analyzing the golf odds to win the 2022 CJ Cup, with PGA Tour picks, predictions and best bets.

The PGA Tour is back in the United States this week for the 2022 CJ Cup at Congaree Golf Club in Ridgeland. It was played in Las Vegas for the last 2 years and previously took place in Korea.

Below, we look at the 2022 CJ Cup odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions.

This is the first time the CJ Cup is being held at Congaree as it has moved around several times over the tournament’s 5-year existence. Congaree is a long course for a par 71, playing at 7,655 yards. It’s also a newer track, being designed in 2017 by Tom Fazio.

Longer players such as Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm will have an advantage on this lengthy course, as it emphasizes strokes gained off the tee. McIlroy will try to defend his title after winning last year at The Summit Club in Las Vegas. Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Matt Fitzpatrick and Collin Morikawa are also teeing it up in South Carolina.

CJ Cup – Expert picks

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 6:37 a.m. ET.

Cameron Young (+3000)

Young is deadly off the tee, which should be an advantage this week at Congaree. He’s still searching for his 1st career win on the PGA Tour and while this will be a tough week for him to break through given the loaded field, he often performs best in star-studded events. Give me Young at a great price this week.

Sam Burns (+3000)

Burns ranks 5th on tour in strokes gained: off-the-tee this season. It’s still early in the 2022-23 season, but he’s driven the ball very well and has plenty of length to compete at Congaree. I like his chances at the CJ Cup against some of the top players in the field.

Justin Thomas (+1500)

Only Jordan Spieth played better than Thomas at the Presidents Cup, though both of them were absolutely dominant against the International team. Thomas is firing on all cylinders right now and should be near the top of the leaderboard come Sunday. He’s won this event twice before, albeit on different courses.

CJ Cup picks – Contenders

Cam Davis (+6000)

Continuing the trend of favoring length and strokes gained off the tee, Davis feels like a good value at +6000. He played well at the Presidents Cup and is really rounding into form as a solid young player.

Sahith Theegala (+5000)

Theegala tied for 5th last week at the ZOZO Championship, nearly earning his first PGA Tour victory. This week’s field is much stronger, but Theegala has shown he can compete with the best. He also ranks 49th in SG: off-the-tee, which is respectable this early in the season.

CJ Cup picks – Long shot

Trey Mullinax (+10000)

Mullinax missed the cut in his first 2 starts of the season, but this course suits him well thanks to the demand for length. He’s a major long shot so your wager shouldn’t be very big, but he’s one player with long odds I would consider taking.
