The PGA Tour is back in the U.S. this week following the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba, heading to Texas for the 2022 Cadence Bank Houston Open. Memorial Park Golf Course will host this event for the 3rd straight year after it moved back there in 2020.
Below, we look at the 2022 Cadence Bank Houston Open odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions.
The field this week is led by Scottie Scheffler, who’s in his home state of Texas. Tony Finau, Sam Burns, Aaron Wise and Jason Day are all teeing it up in Houston. The last 2 winners, Carlos Ortiz and Jason Kokrak, are not in the field this time around.
Memorial Park Golf Course is a local municipal course that plays at 7,412 yards and is a par 70. The course was remodeled when the Houston Open returned in 2020; it had previously been played there from 1951-63. There are only 3 par 5s, so players will need to take advantage of those scoring opportunities.

Hideki Matsuyama (+2000)
Matsuyama has only played this event once, but he came close to winning. That was in 2020 when he tied for 2nd before taking last year off. He hasn’t had the best results this season, finishing between T-25 and T-40 in 3 starts, but this is a good week for him to get back on track and potentially win his 9th PGA Tour title.
Sahith Theegala (+4000)
Theegala has been hot and cold so far this season, with 2 top-10s, a missed cut and a T-67 finish. He has the game and talent to win on the PGA Tour and though he’s only played in Houston once, he comes in playing well so far this season. Statistically, he doesn’t rank very highly in strokes gained (119th), but I like his chances here.

Cadence Bank Houston Open picks – Contenders
Mackenzie Hughes (+6000)
Hughes tied for 29th here last year and for 7th in 2020, showing he’s a good fit at this course. He’s also off to a fantastic start this season, winning once and finishing in the top 25 in all 3 of his starts so far. He ranks 15th in strokes gained: putting and 8th in total strokes gained.
Sepp Straka (+7000)
Straka finished alone in 2nd place in his 1st start this season at the Sanderson Farms Championship, but has gone T-45, T-62 and MC in his 3 starts since. He missed the cut here last year, but tied for 5th in 2020 at this course.
Cadence Bank Houston Open picks – Long shot
Adam Long (+9000)
Long is a good long shot this week, no pun intended. He’s tied for 11th in the Houston Open in each of the last 2 years and made the cut in 3 straight starts before missing it last week in Mayakoba. His putting will keep him in it this week, ranking 2nd on tour in strokes gained on the greens.
