2022 ZOZO Championship odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions

Analyzing the golf odds to win the 2022 ZOZO Championship, with PGA Tour picks, predictions and best bets.

The PGA Tour heads to Japan this week for the 2022 ZOZO Championship, the 4th playing of this event. It’s a strong field hitting the course at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club, led by Xander Schauffele and last year’s champion Hideki Matsuyama.

Below, we look at the 2022 ZOZO Championship odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions.

The 1st ZOZO Championship was played in 2019 and was won by Tiger Woods at 19-under par. Matsuyama won it last year at 15-under par, beating out Brendan Steele (-10) by 5 strokes. There is no cut at this event, with 78 players teeing it up for all 4 rounds from Thursday to Sunday.

Accordia Golf Narashino CC is a shorter course at just 7,079 yards and it’s a par 70, though about 40 yards have been added to the course for this year’s event, according to the PGA Tour.

Tom Kim will be looking to go back-to-back after winning his second PGA Tour event Sunday at the Shriners Children’s Open in Las Vegas over runner-up Patrick Cantlay, while Matsuyama tries to defend his title. Viktor Hovland, Collin Morikawa and Cameron Young are among the other players also teeing it up this week.

ZOZO Championship – Expert picks

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 6:07 a.m. ET.

Xander Schauffele (+750)

It’s sometimes hard to bet the odds-on favorite to win because there’s so little reward compared to other players, but Schauffele is a great fit here. He has three top-30s in this event, including a T-10 in 2019. And he’s coming off some fantastic play at the Presidents Cup, so he’ll be fresh entering the ZOZO Championship.

Collin Morikawa (+1300)

With only three par 5s and five par 3s, length isn’t necessary at this course. Morikawa’s ball striking and iron play will give him an advantage and it helped him notch a T-7 last year in this championship. I like his chances to contend this week.

ZOZO Championship picks – Contenders

K.H. Lee (+5000)

Lee tied for 18th last year in his only appearance in this event, a good showing in his debut. Now with more course familiarity, he should fare well again, especially after tying for 37th last week at the Shriners Children’s Open.

Mackenzie Hughes (+6000)

Hughes tied for 4th last year at this event and has gotten off to a great start this season with a T-25 and a win at the Sanderson Farms Championship. I’ll take a chance on him to contend this week with the way he’s been playing, as well as his course history.

ZOZO Championship picks – Long shot

Hayden Buckley (+10000)

Buckley is a sleeper each week, but he’s played well in his last 2 starts: T-19 and T-20. He’s been accurate off the tee this season, hitting 64% of his fairways, which is a recipe for success this week.
