2022 NFL free agency: Jaguars sign PK Ryan Santoso

The Jags have a new kicker in the building in Ryan Santoso, who is entering his fifth season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars started this week by announcing the return of receiver Laquon Treadwell, but he wasn’t the only addition that the team announced Monday. They also revealed that they added a new placekicker in Ryan Santoso, who is entering his fifth season in the NFL.

Santoso, 26, entered the league in 2018 as an undrafted free agent for the Detroit Lions out of the University of Minnesota. He’s been a journeyman since but has played in seven regular season games. Those games took place with the Lions (three games), Carolina Panthers (one), and Tennessee Titans (three).

Santoso will enter 2022 with an 80% (4-of-5) figure in terms of field goals made and an extra-point success rate of 75% (6-of-8). The lone missed field goal attempt occurred last season when Santoso was playing for the Lions and missed a 48-yarder Week 8 against Pittsburgh. As for the two missed extra points, they occurred last season while he was with the Lions and Panthers.

Last season the Jags released veteran kicker Josh Lambo in October and named Matthew Wright their starting kicker after he kicked a game-winner in London to give the Jags a 23-20 win over the Miami Dolphins, which was their first of the season. He made 21-of-24 field goals and 13-of-15 extra points last season.
