2022 NFL draft order update after Week 14: Lions still on top

The Lions are still holding onto the No. 1 pick but got no help around the league in Week 14

The Detroit Lions remain on top of the 2022 NFL draft standings after Week 14. Following Sunday’s blowout loss in Denver, the 1-11-1 Lions are still the only team with fewer than two wins.

It wasn’t a great weekend for the Lions in their quest to stay on top, however. Even though the injury-ravaged Detroit team lost, so did all the other teams who are in the running for the top pick. Sunday’s outcomes left no change in the top four slots:

  1. Detroit Lions
  2. Jacksonville Jaguars
  3. Houston Texans
  4. New York Jets

The Jaguars lost 20-0 to the Titans, while the Texans fell 33-13 to the Seahawks in a game that, like the Lions/Broncos tilt, was close in the first half. The Jets were grounded by the Saints, 30-9.

Last week’s No. 5 team, the Seattle Seahawks, moved out of the running with their win over Houston. Seattle is now 5-8. The Chicago Bears slid into the No. 5 slot after losing to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night. Chicago is 4-9, as is the New York Giants. Note that the Giants own the picks for both teams there as a result of a trade.

Houston and Jacksonville play head-to-head in Week 15, a game that Lions fans will want to pay attention to while Detroit hosts Arizona.

There is no change to the Lions’ second first-round pick, the one that comes via a trade with the Los Angeles Rams. It’s still No. 24 overall and that will not change no matter what happens when the Rams play the Cardinals on Monday night.
