2022 Memorial Tournament odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions

Analyzing the golf odds to win the 2022 Memorial Tournament, with PGA Tour picks, predictions and best bets.

It’ll be a major-like field teeing it up at Jack Nicklaus’ place, Muirfield Village, this week for the 2022 Memorial Tournament. Many of the top players in the world will be vying to win this coveted event, including Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth.

Below, we search for the best value prop bets among the 2022 Memorial Tournament odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions.

In addition to McIlroy, Rahm and Spieth, last year’s champion Patrick Cantlay will also be in the field as will Cameron Smith, Collin Morikawa and Viktor Hovland. Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns are the only 3 players from the world top-10 not teeing it up at Muirfield.

Muirfield Village, a par 72 that is playing at 7,533 yards this week, underwent some changes in the last couple of years. The rough is always high, so missing fairways is a real penalty this week. The greens are also treacherous, running consistently fast from Thursday to Sunday.

Rory McIlroy (+1200)

McIlroy is a great fit for Muirfield Village, which is probably why he’s had so much success here despite never winning the storied event. He’s had 3 top-10 finishes here, and last year tied for 18th on a course that played considerably more difficult than past years. With it being a longer course that requires strong play off the tee, McIlroy should contend if he can get his putter back on track after an ice-cold back-9 at the PGA Championship.

Xander Schauffele (+2000)

Schauffele has floated around the top 15 in many events this season, but his best play has come in the last month or so. He won the Zurich Classic teamed with Cantlay, tied for 5th at the AT&T Byron Nelson and then tied for 13th at the PGA. He’s gotten progressively better in each of his last 3 starts at the Memorial Tournament, going T-14, T-13 and T-11 in consecutive years.

2022 Memorial Tournament picks – Contenders

Patrick Reed (+5000)

I’ve been down on Reed for much of this season because he simply wasn’t playing very well until recently. But he put together a T-34 at the PGA Championship and then tied for 7th last week at the Charles Schwab Challenge. He’s very comfortable at Muirfield Village, where finesse around the greens is required. Since 2016, he has 3 top-10s here, including a solo 5th-place finish last year and a T-10 in 2020.

Chris Kirk (+6000)

Kirk has had mixed results in this event, coming in the top-26 three times, but also missing the cut 4 times since 2011. But he’s good off the tee (28th in SG: off the tee), went T-15 and T-5 in his last 2 starts at the Charles Schwab Challenge and PGA Championship, and his only weakness is putting. I like his chances this week in Ohio.

2022 Memorial Tournament picks – Long shot

Jhonattan Vegas (+10000)

Vegas didn’t play this event the last 2 years after missing the cut in 2019, and he hasn’t had much success playing Muirfield over the years. But he’s long off the tee, is a good ball striker (41st in SG: approach the green) and had 4 consecutive top-30 finishes from March to early May.
