2022 Houston Astros World Series, win total, pennant and division odds

Looking at the 2022 MLB futures for the Houston Astros, including odds for the World Series, pennant, division and projected win total.

The Houston Astros head into the 2022 season as co-favorites to win the American League with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Astros registered a 95-67 record in 2021 to win the American League West Division title by five games over the surprising Seattle Mariners. It’s expected to be another banner season for Houston again in 2022.

Below, we look at the Houston Astros MLB futures odds, including their projected 2022 win total and World Series odds at Tipico Sportsbook.

Odds: +900 (bet $100 to win $900)

Houston is expected to win the American League West Division, and challenge for the pennant, perhaps setting up a rematch with the Los Angeles Dodgers. You might remember that 2017 World Series resulted in the ‘garbage can’ controversy, so a lot of people would be interested in seeing that.

However, first things first, we have an entire season to play, and there are quite a few other teams who are also vying for that brass ring, too.

At +900, Houston has an implied probability of winning the World Series of 10.00% or 9/1 fractional odds.

The Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates have the longest odds at +30000.

Taking the ASTROS (+900) to win the World Series for a 9-to-1 payoff is as good a play as any, especially since General Manager James Click was able to retain key pieces like C Jason Castro and OF Michael Brantley, a.k.a. “Dr. Smooth”.

Houston Astros’ 2022 playoff odds

Will Astros make the playoffs: Yes -400 | No +300

Not only were the Astros able to retain Castro and Brantley, but the team avoided arbitration with RHP Ryne Stanek to help on the back-end.

There is one big question, however, and that’s who will replace SS Carlos Correa, who moved on to the Minnesota Twins as a free agent.

OF Kyle Tucker emerged last season as a stud in the middle of the lineup, and 2019 AL Rookie of the Year OF/DH Yordan Alvarez will look to grow off last season’s performance.

Even so, betting four times your potential return just for a shot to make the playoffs is a foolish preseason wager. You can’t tie up tons of money for such a small return.

PASS.

Houston Astros’ 2022 win total

Over/Under: 92.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

The Astros posted 95 victories in 2021 and lost a few key pieces. However, this team has a $200 million lineup, expectations are again sky-high, and they’re one of the favorites to win the American League. A triple-digit win total is likely, and at least a repeat of its 95-win total of 2021 seems very easy for Houston. Take OVER 92.5 (-110).

Odds to win AL West Division

  • Houston Astros -180 (bet $180 to win $100)
  • Los Angeles Angels +350 (bet $100 to win $350)
  • Seattle Mariners +480 (bet $100 to win $480)
  • Texas Rangers +1500 (bet $100 to win $1,500)
  • Oakland Athletics +2000 (bet $100 to win $2,000)

The AL West is a three-way race, and the Astros are expected to win this race by a nose. There are concerns with the ‘Stros losing Correa, but the young guns should be more than capable of stepping up and accepting added responsibilities.

This team is stacked top to bottom with rotation arms, from ace RHP Justin Verlander through LHP Framber Valdez, RHP Luis Garcia, RHP Jose Urquidy and RHP Jake Odorizzi. RHP Lance McCullers Jr. is slowly making his way back from a flexor tendon surgery and is an insurance policy for the summer if needed.

This team is a favorite to win the AL West for a reason, but laying this much for such a small return is not a great longer-term bet. Instead, check back in the first month of the season, and try and get better odds if the team gets off to a sluggish start.

Odds to win American League

Odds: +425 (bet $100 to win $425)

The Astros and Blue Jays are expected to be battling neck-and-neck for the American League pennant, although the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central, and the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees of the AL East will all have something to say about that.

However, I really like the pitching depth of the Astros the most. They might be the best staff in the AL, if not all of the majors, and arms get it done over the long haul.

OF Chas McCormick needs to step up and do big things and SS Jeremy Pena has big shoes to fill. Management didn’t make a huge move to retain Correa, so Pena should be more than adequate. Alvarez, 2B Jose Altuve, Brantley, 3B Alex Bregman, 1B Yuli Gurriel and Tucker make for a tremendous top of the order. This team is legit, and a good BET to win the AL PENNANT (+425).
