Following Joaquin Niemann’s wire-to-wire win at the Genesis Invitational last week, the PGA Tour is heading from the West Coast to Florida for the next leg of the season. Players will tee it up at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens for the Honda Classic starting Thursday. Brooks Koepka headlines the field, but he’s not the favorite. Below, we look at the 2022 Honda Classic odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.
Betting favorite Sungjae Im (+1200) is currently the No. 24 player in the world, according to the Official World Golf Ranking. The highest-ranked player in the field is Louis Oosthuizen at No. 13 in the world. Daniel Berger, Billy Horschel, Tommy Fleetwood, Koepka and Niemann are among the seven favorites to win the 2022 Honda Classic. Defending champion Matt Jones, 104th in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, is also in the field.
PGA National isn’t a very long course at only 7,215 yards and playing to a par 70. However, weather conditions play a major role in the difficulty of this track. If the wind picks up, it becomes a much tougher course to navigate, especially down the stretch in the Bear Trap, which is made up of 15, 16 and 17. It’s one of the most difficult three-hole stretches in golf, with two treacherous par 3’s and a water-covered par 4.

Daniel Berger (+1500)
Berger is from nearby Plantation, Fla., and resides in Jupiter, Fla., like many other professional golfers. He has a great track record at the Honda Classic, tying for fourth in 2020 and finishing second in 2015, with two top-40’s in between. He missed the cut at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and didn’t play last week’s Genesis Invitational, so even at +1500, you might be getting him at a little bit of a discount. I like the way his game sets up at PGA National, especially with his low-ball flight in windy conditions.
2022 Honda Classic picks – Contender
C.T. Pan (+7000)
Pan tied for third at the Honda Classic last year, finishing 6-under after missing the cut the previous two years. In 2018, he tied for 17th and the year prior, he finished T37. Fresh off a ninth-place finish at the Genesis, now is a good time to potentially catch Pan on a hot streak. His lack of length off the tee (105th on tour) won’t hurt him on the shorter course this week, either.

2022 Honda Classic picks – Long shot
Zach Johnson (+9000)
Johnson has only missed the cut twice in nine trips here and tied for 8th last year at 5-under. It’s his only top 10 at the Honda Classic, but he also tied for 27th in 2017 and 33rd in 2014. At The RSM Classic in November, he tied for 16th and finished T14 at The American Express last month, helped by his strong performance on the greens (46th in SG: putting this season).
