2022 DT Shone Washington commits to LSU

Washington picked LSU over the likes of Alabama and Florida.

The LSU Tigers are putting together quite the recruiting class for 2022, despite the circumstances surrounding football and the current public health situation.

On Wednesday, the Tigers added another big piece to the 2022 class when four-star defensive tackle Shone Washington picked the defending champions.

Washington, a 6-foot-3, 297-pound defensive tackle from Warren Easton High in New Orleans, picked LSU over the likes of Alabama and Florida, among others.

Per the 247Sports composite rankings, Washington is ranked as the No. 212 player in the class of 2022. He is the No. 18 defensive tackle in the nation and the No. 11 overall player from the state of Louisiana.

Washington sat out the 2019 season after transferring from John Ehret High in Marrero, La.

Washington is the sixth commitment for LSU in 2022. He is the first defensive line commitment for a class that is already ranked No. 1 overall in the 247Sports team rankings.

To get Washington in the boat this early is quite the coup for head coach Ed Orgeron as Washington is a player whose ranking was likely lower due to his inactivity in 2019.
