2021 tight end Jack Bech commits to LSU

The LSU Tigers may be struggling on the field in 2020, but that hasn’t stopped their success on the recruiting trail.

The LSU Tigers may be struggling on the field in 2020, but that hasn’t stopped their success on the recruiting trail.

Over the weekend, five-star safety Sage Ryan made his pledge to the defending national champions.

On Sunday, LSU added three-star tight end Jack Bech to the 2021 recruiting class. Bech is the third commitment in seven days, joining Ryan and safety Matthew Langlois, who pledged to the Tigers last week.

Bech, a 6-foot-2, 215-pounder from St. Thomas More in Lafayette, La., had been committed to Vanderbilt since March 21, however, backed off his commitment just days after being offered by LSU.

It didn’t take long for Bech to make his choice official, as he told 247Sports, via Sonny Shipp.

“It means a lot to me. It’s a childhood dream coming true,” Bech said.

“Just really means a lot, the recognition to get an offer from LSU being one of the top places in the nation to play football and having to be one of the best to get an offer means a lot,” Bech continued.

Notre Dame and Texas were among the schools that pursued Bech after he received his offer from LSU.

Bech is a teammate of four-star quarterback Walker Howard, a prized recruit in LSU’s 2022 recruiting class.

After the commitment of Bech, LSU remains No. 4 in the 247Sports composite team rankings for 2021.
