Overview
After being a defensive standout in high school, linebacker Kobe King has arrived in Happy Valley looking to become a part of the Linebacker-U tradition at Penn State. King committed to Penn State with his brother, cornerback Kalen King, and enrolled early in the program to get a jump on his college football career in the spring of 2021.
King was named the Detroit Public Scholl League’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2020, proving Penn State has added a high-quality defensive player at the important linebacker position. King was rated a three-star prospect out of high school and was a top 20 inside linebacker in the nation. His potential to be a solid fixture in the linebacking corp is certainly there as he has the physical stature and tools to be a terrific Penn State linebacker during his career.
Although it may not happen at Penn State, King does have some experience on offense as well. In high school, King played both ways as a linebacker and running back. His athleticism was also seen in track and field and on the wrestling mats. Should Penn State ever find itself in need of another running back, perhaps King could be a candidate for a potential position change?
Like his brother, Kobe committed to Penn State over Arkansas and Boston College, giving Penn State a package deal in the Class of 2021.
