Following one of the best rookie campaigns in NFL history, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert has picked up where he left off.
Herbert has thrown for 951 yards through three games, which ranks No. 4 in the league, and six touchdowns to three interceptions.
Herbert’s most prolific showing came last Sunday in the statement victory over the Chiefs, in which he out-dueled QB Patrick Mahomes en route to passing for 281 yards and four scores.
Not only did the 23-year old continue to draw the national spotlight, but his performance also caught the oddsmaker’s attention, as Herbert cut his MVP odds more than half.
He opened up the season at +4000, but now Herbert sits at +1300, per Tipico Sportsbook. That means if you place $100 down and Herbert wins the prestigious award, you pocket $1100.
That puts him tied with Cowboys’ Dak Prescott for the fourth-best odds, trailing Matthew Stafford, Kyler Murray (+600), Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen (+750), and Aaron Rodgers (+900).
Herbert has the opportunity to make that number descend even more next Monday night against former coordinator Gus Bradley’s Raiders defense.
