2021 NFL mock draft: Panthers pick QB Justin Fields at No. 4

Most mock drafts seem to have the Panthers picking Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence next year. While landing the top QB prospect in the draft is an exciting possibility, it’s probably unrealistic. To get Lawrence, Carolina likely would need the No. 1 overall pick and their roster – as bad as it is – is too talented to wind up with the worst record in the league.

It’s more likely that the Panthers will win five or six games and pick somewhere around the top five, which could still land them a very special player. In a new 2021 mock by Todd McShay at ESPN, the team selects Ohio State QB Justin Fields at No. 4.

“Bottom line, the Panthers are still looking for a quarterback to build around. Fields has shown high-end accuracy, a quick release with some zip on the ball and the ability to adjust arm angles to make difficult throws off-schedule. If his game continues progressing, he would be a great get for Carolina here at No. 4.”

Indeed. If the Panthers can’t get their hands on Lawrence, Fields would be a hell of a consolation prize.

The Big 10 has decided to postpone its 2020 season, so we may not see Fields play this year. Let’s take a look at what Fields got up to during the 2019 season.
