2021 NFL Draft: Bears land familiar name at offensive tackle in new mock draft

The Bears land a starting offensive tackle in the first round of the latest 2021 NFL mock draft from The Sporting News.

The Chicago Bears are becoming a popular destination for one of the premier offensive tackle prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft, Oklahoma State’s Teven Jenkins.

In the latest mock draft from The Sporting News, Jenkins is the pick for GM Ryan Pace at No. 20 overall.

“The Bears are in the market for some kind of offensive line impact and getting the prototypical right tackle to be a rock for the running game with a smooth-enough frame for pass protection is a smart move should Toney not be available,” Vinnie Iyer wrote.

Any chance the Bears had at landing a quarterback in the first round ended in this mock draft at No. 8 overall, where Iyer had the New England Patriots trading up with the Carolina Panthers to select North Dakota State’s Trey Lance.

If Chicago has their sights set on one of this year’s top arms, they’ll have to make an aggressive trade into the top 10 picks. It seems unlikely that Pace will make such an assertive move entering a win-now season while already having a veteran starter on the roster.

Day-2 quarterback prospects like Kellen Mond, Davis Mills, and Kyle Trask are more likely to be targeted by the Bears if they’re set on adding a passer from this year’s class.
