If the Home Run Derby is any indication, we should be in line for quite a bit of fireworks Tuesday night. We also will see a rarity as Los Angeles Angels RHP Shohei Ohtani starts on the mound and serves as the designated hitter.

MLB All-Star Game Prop Bets

Total runs scored by American League – Over 5.5 (+115)

The American League lineup is stacked with Ohtani leading off and serving as the designated hitter. Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. bats second, with Boston’s Xander Bogaerts in the third slot and Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees batting cleanup. This offense has the potential to make some serious noise, especially in the rarefied air of Coors Field.

1st 5 innings total – Under 6.5 Runs (-140)

We have Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer making his fourth All-Star start, and Ohtani on the other side. The pitching is usually well ahead of the batters in All-Star Games – especially early on. We still should see plenty of offense as we go along and get into the bullpen, but it won’t be a slugfest in the first few frames.

Will there be a run in the first inning – Yes (-135)

As mentioned above, Scherzer is a veteran of these things, while Ohtani is making his first ASG start. In addition, he is in a National League park. I think Ohtani, as good as he is, experiences some nerves and yields the first run of this ball game.

Will both teams score 4 or more runs – Yes (+100)

I am expecting a slow start early on before the offenses start to find their sea legs, or their mile above sea level legs. It won’t turn into your traditional Coors Field Beer League softball score type of game, but both offenses should see four or more runs on offense.

1st 5 innings line – American League +0.5 (-135)

I expect the National League to score the first run of this game, but after that for the American League to flex its muscle and win for the eighth consecutive time in the All-Star Game. Once we get into the middle frames, that’s when the AL will start pouring it on.
