Shrout is one of five scholarship quarterbacks on Tennessee’s roster this season, and has one of the biggest arms. In limited duty in 2019, Shrout made his biggest impact in the South Carolina game, replacing the injured Jarrett Guarantano. Shrout completed 7-of-11 passes for 122 yards, and a touchdown — a 55-yard pass to Marquez Callaway.

Shrout will be a significant part of the quarterback competition and rotation for Tennessee in 2020, alongside Brian Maurer, Guarantano, Harrison Bailey, Jimmy Holiday, and Kasim Hill.
