Brian Maurer played a critical role in Tennessee’s turnaround in 2019, providing a spark for an offense that struggled in the early onset of the season. Appearing in eight games with four starts, Maurer completed 35 of 75 passes for 541 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions. He also finished with 56 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Jarrett Guarantano eventually returned to the lineup to lead Tennessee to a Gator Bowl victory, but Maurer was instrumental in wins over Mississippi State and Kentucky.
Maurer battled concussions all season, but will return in 2020 with experience as a crowded quarterback battle gets underway.
