2020 RSM Classic matchups, placings and group betting predictions

Analyzing prop bets for the 2020 RSM Classic, with PGA Tour odds, picks and predictions for the top matchups, placings and group bets.

The PGA Tour moves on from the Masters to the RSM Classic and brings a strong field to Sea Island Resort for the second-to-last full-field event of 2020. Below, we’ll look for the best value bets in the 2020 RSM Classic betting odds with tournament matchups, placings and group predictions.

2020 RSM Classic: Matchup bets

Odds provided by BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. ET.

Kevin Kisner (-118) vs. Jason Kokrak (-118)

This 72-hole matchup is priced as a pick ’em. Both Kisner and Kokrak missed the cut at the Masters, but Kokrak recently claimed victory at The CJ Cup. He has excelled with his putter of late with an average of 1.62 Strokes Gained: Putting per round across his last 14 measured rounds, according to Data Golf.

The advantage goes to Kisner; however, as he won here in 2015 and has three other top-10 finishes in his last six appearances. Kokrak hasn’t played the RSM Classic since 2017 after missing the cut in two of his last three appearances.

Tyrrell Hatton (-134) vs. Sungjae Im

Hatton is a moderate favorite in this matchup even though Im is coming off a co-runner-up finish at Augusta National, and he missed the cut. Look for him to use his weekend off to his advantage while Im may struggle in the follow-up to the Masters. The course suits both expert ball-strikers well, and they share the second-best odds to win.

2020 RSM Classic: Placing bets

Top 5: Webb Simpson (+200)

Since Sea Island first started hosting a PGA Tour event in 2010, Simpson has three top-5 and four top-10 finishes in eight appearances. He was the runner-up in 2019, losing to Tyler Duncan in a playoff. The seventh-ranked golfer in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings tied for 10th at the Masters and eighth at the US Open.

He has an excellent chance to win his third tournament of 2020 at a favorite course where he has averaged 1.95 strokes gained per round on the field.

Top 10: Peter Malnati (+1200)

Malnati was the runner-up at the Sanderson Farms Championship and tied for fifth at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, but he has been off for two weeks since a T-21 finish at the Bermuda Championship. He has been riding a hot putter but is also averaging 1.29 SG: Tee-to-Green over his last 10 measured rounds.

Top Asian player: Xinjun Zhang (+1100)

Zhang is a value play with inflated odds as Im (-138) and C.T. Pan (+300) come off top-10 finishes at the Masters. Zhang missed the cut in his last three events following a T-11 at the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship. He’ll face a much stronger field this week, but there shouldn’t be this much separation in the odds in this pool.
