The Philadelphia Eagles are set to be active during free agency and with Howie Roseman likely to use a hefty amount of cap space on trying to land Byron Jones, he’ll need to get creative with trying to lure second-tier guys to the NovaCare Complex.

One guy that’s been mentioned a ton during the buildup to free agency is Breshad Perriman.

The former first-round pick resurrected his career in Tampa Bay last season and he’s been mentioned as a guy that could help Carson Wentz and the Eagles expand their deep passing game.

In a piece from Ben Linsey of ESPN.com breaking down the one player, all 32 NFL teams must sign on the open market, Perriman was once again the first choice for Carson Wentz and company.

By the end of the season, the Eagles were running out wide receivers anyone recognized. Injuries did a number to the group, and one such injury to DeSean Jackson made it apparent that the Eagles were missing a downfield threat. No player had a higher average depth of target in 2019 than Perriman’s mark of 18.8 yards downfield, and he dropped just one of his 65 targets. By the end of the season, he was a legitimate No. 1 option in the Tampa Bay offense due to injuries. He seems to have put his career struggles behind him, and that should be enough to interest the Eagles.

Perriman helped carry Jameis Winston to a 5,000 yard passing season after Mike Evans and Chris Godwin both were lost for the season with an injury.

Perriman had his best NFL season in 2019, catching 36 passes for 645 yards (17.9) and six touchdowns after bouncing around on three different teams over the past few years.
