2020 NFL Draft: Titans select QB Cole McDonald with 224th pick

The Titans have made their first of three picks in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

With the 224th pick in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans selected quarterback Cole McDonald out of Hawaii.

This was the pick the Titans acquired when they traded wide receiver Taywan Taylor to the Cleveland Browns in 2019.

It was no secret that the Titans were likely to add a quarterback at some point this offseason in order to create competition at the backup spot with Logan Woodside, who has never taken a regular season snap.

McDonald will bring that competition in training camp, and could potentially be the team’s practice squad quarterback if Woodside does indeed win the job behind Ryan Tannehill.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound signal-caller was highly productive in 2019, completing 63.8 percent of his passes for 4,138 yards and 33 touchdowns to 14 interceptions, while posting a QB rating of 147.6. He added another 383 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

After making their fifth pick in the draft, the Titans now have two more selections in the seventh round, one at No. 237, and the other at No. 243.
