The 2020 NFL Draft is going down in a much different way. With the virtual draft selection process underway for the league due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it appears a prediction of sorts has come true.
Many draft analysts wondered if NFL teams would be staying put and not making trades because of the unusual circumstances.
For the first time since the 2015 NFL Draft, there were no trades in the top-10 picks. That year the first trade didn’t come until the Chargers moved up from the No. 17 pick to the No. 15 pick to select running back Melvin Gordon. In that deal, the 49ers moved back two spots and also landed extra fourth and fifth-round picks.
For what it’s worth, here’s how the top-10 played out in 2015:
1. Buccaneers | QB Jameis Winston
2. Titans | QB Marcus Mariota
3. Jaguars | LB Dante Fowler
4. Raiders | WR Amari Cooper
5. Redskins | OL Brandon Scherff
6. Jets | DL Leonard Williams
7. Bears | WR Kevin White
8. Falcons | LB Vic Beasley
9. Giants | OL Ereck Flowers
10. Rams | TB Todd Gurley
Back to present day, the first trade of the 2020 draft came down the same selection and once again involved the 49ers. They moved back one slot, from No. 13 to No. 14 in a trade with the Buccaneers, landing a fourth-round pick and seventh-round pick. The Bucs moved up in order to select Iowa offensive lineman Tristan Wirfs.
… and for those wondering, your top-10 picks at the 2020 draft:

3. Lions | CB Jeff Okudah
4. Giants | OL Andrew Thomas
5. Dolphins | QB Tua Tagovailoa
6. Chargers | QB Justin Herbert
7. Panthers | DT Derrick Brown
8. Cardinals | LB Isaiah Simmons
