With the 2020 NFL draft in the books, it’s time to hand out some grades for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers had six picks in total and only one pick in the Top 100. Did the Steelers get the best value for their picks? Let’s find out.

49: WR Chase Claypool | B
102: Edge Alex Highsmith | B

135: OG Kevin Dotson | B+

232: DT Carlos Davis | C+
In looking at this draft, two things stand out. First, there are no players on this list who look to the rookie starters. The Steelers haven’t been shy about throwing rookies into the starting lineup in recent seasons but short of a catastrophic injury, none of these players will challenge the top of their respective depth charts.
Second, there are three guys on this list, Claypool, Highsmith and Dotson who could all be opening weekend starters in 2021. It’s hard to complain about some questionable picks elsewhere if three of six picks end up in the starting lineup in a year.
Overall, I’d give the Steelers draft class as a whole a B-. Nothing earth-shattering in terms of reaches at any of the picks, good emphasis on athletes while at the same time none of the Steelers picks could be considered a steal.
