Call this the trade-back group for the Cowboys. Most of these players would be fine additions to what they have, but all seem a stretch for No. 17 overall.
Gladney doesn’t get nearly enough publicity as one of the draft’s best corners.
McKinney and Delpit have been the leading players mocked to Dallas since the offseason began. Reagor is a speed demon and Mims is a bully wideout.
It may take a year to round into form, but Chaisson has the look and feel of a player destined to get double-digit sacks on a regular basis. There are injury concerns surrounding Javon Kinlaw, but he has all the tools to be a wrecking-ball force at the 3-technique spot.
Henderson is the CB many mock to Dallas but it’s hard to see the second CB in a draft making it to No. 17. The Cowboys aren’t considering Herbert or the tackles at that spot; not a chance.
Dallas would be ecstatic with the majority of these names, but it’s probably a pipe dream for any of them to see No. 17.
If Isaiah Simmons or Jeff Okudah slides outside of the Top 10 for some reason, both would be defense-altering prospects who would warrant consideration of a trade up. The depth of the receiver class in monumental, but if Juedy or Lamb slide to No. 17, it’s going to be hard to turn down creating a 35 ppg offense.
