OL Mekhi Becton

The Jets selected offensive tackle Mekhi Becton out of Louisville. He is simply a massive tackle. There’s no mystery with this pick: New York needs to upgrade the protection in front of quarterback Sam Darnold. Becton’s athleticism is astounding for such a big player. At 6-foot-7, 364 pounds, he’s agile enough when he moves into space and powerful enough to plow defenders out of the way. Becton ran an unofficial 5.1-second 40-yard dash at the combine, which was mind-blowing for a player of his size. He will definitely pose a challenge to opposing pass rushers. Becton’s abilities in pass and run protection put him as a day one starter this season.

New England Patriots

The Patriots traded out of the first round when they were on the clock. New England sent their first-round pick to the Los Angeles Chargers for Chargers’ second-round (No. 37 overall) and third-round (No. 71 overall) picks. The Patriots now hold 13 picks between rounds two and seven.
