4. Yetur Gross-Matos, Penn State 6-5, 264 (1)
Why He’s Here On The List: When he was on, he was one of college football’s most dominant defensive forces with 9.5 sacks and 15 tackles for loss last year after coming up with eight sacks and 20 tackles for loss as a sophomore. He’s an end more than outside linebacker or a hybrid, with a killer combination of skills, closing ability, and size. He’s what NFL teams are looking for in a 4-3 end.
What The NFL Types Want To See: Does he have the fluidity and the twitch to go along with his size? He’s going to be bigger than most of the pass rushers at the combine, but if he can be the “moves like a smaller player” guy, he goes from the late first rounder into the top 15.
Bottom Line: He’s an end more than a hybrid outside linebacker type, and he’s just getting started. He could end up playing at around 270 pounds and become a devastating force if he could be a bit stronger against the run to go along with his pass rushing upside. He’s already great, but there’s still a high ceiling on what he can become.
