2020 FIW Tournament: First Round Results (Notre Dame’s Greatest Game ’86-Now)

The biggest upset of the first round was found in the Basilica Region.  The region also saw six higher seeds move on and two lower seeds pull upsets, even if one of them was an 8/9 game. 

Golden Dome Region First Round Results:

The region that is home to the only national championship clincher on the list saw that game play out as a blowout winner, the same way most games in the Golden Dome Region went.

8. 1990 Miami over 9. 1989 USC, 60-40.
5. 2006 Michigan State over 12. 2018 Syracuse, 86-14.
4. 1988 Michigan over 13. 2005 Stanford, 82-18.
6. 2006 UCLA was a 84-16 winner over 11. 2008 Hawaii
3. 1996 Texas destroyed 14. 1998 Boston College, 79-21.
7. 1986 USC had the toughest game of the region, a 52-48 win over 1995 USC.
And finally, 2. 1988 USC routed 15. 2006 Penn State, 81-19.
